The 'Prestige' cocaine bricks

The crown-stamped 'Prestige' kilogram bricks in the video forwarded to Mike van Wyk - forensically matched to cocaine.

What it is

A kilogram block stamped with a crown and the word 'Prestige', matching the five bricks shown being weighed in a video that Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala forwarded to Medicare24 CEO Michael van Wyk on 6 April 2025. A SAPS forensic-science note told the commission that blocks bearing the same crown-and-'Prestige' imprint, received in a separate case, had tested positive for cocaine.

Why it matters

The branded brick is the object the evidence leaders relied on to argue that an exchange between Matlala and van Wyk - 'get me a good price', answered by a voice note saying 'we'll go in at 250' - was an alleged cocaine deal. Van Wyk denies ever receiving the video. The allegation is untested and he is presumed innocent.
