Captain Felani Zungu

SAPS captain, Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS) · Gauteng

Named in evidence

A SAPS captain attached to the Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS) who has emerged as a hinge figure in the Aeroton testimony. According to Witness I, Matlala's informant tip-offs to TOMS came through Zungu, and it was Zungu who arranged the safe house - later found to be a Matlala family property - where Witness I sheltered after a 2023 attempt on his life. Crime Intelligence head Lt-Gen Dumisani Khumalo previously flagged Zungu as a possible 'double agent' after his contact details were found in Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala's phone records. He is not a commission witness in his own right; these are untested allegations and he is presumed innocent.
